The Provincial Council of Córdoba has issued a call for prudence following the activation of a red alert for extreme heat in the Campiña region, with temperatures expected to reach 44 degrees Celsius.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a red alert for this Tuesday in the Campiña region of Córdoba and an orange alert for the rest of the province, due to an extreme heat episode affecting a large part of the country. Exceptionally high temperatures are expected, with peaks potentially exceeding 44 degrees Celsius in parts of the Guadalquivir Valley.
The red alert will be active in the Campiña from 1:00 PM to 8:59 PM. During the same hours, the orange level will apply to the rest of the province. In response, the provincial institution has enhanced communication and coordination with local councils to facilitate monitoring of meteorological developments and the implementation of necessary preventive measures.
Emphasis is placed on the importance of exercising extreme caution, particularly for the most vulnerable populations such as the elderly, minors, individuals with chronic illnesses, and outdoor workers. Recommendations include avoiding sun exposure during the hottest hours of the day, maintaining proper hydration, and staying in cool or air-conditioned places.
Furthermore, the need to take extreme precautions to prevent forest fires is reiterated, given the high temperatures and low humidity forecast. The Provincial Council will continue ongoing monitoring and maintain coordination channels with emergency services and other administrations, urging adherence to official information from AEMET and 112 Andalucía Emergency services.
