Minister Saiz highlighted that the high volume of applications, over 1.17 million, underscores the necessity of this procedure, which will allow hundreds of thousands of individuals residing in Spain without rights to face the future with "hope and enthusiasm".
Saiz recalled that the admission to process these applications already grants a provisional permit to reside and work throughout the country. The autonomous communities with the highest number of applications are Catalonia (over 257,000), Madrid (202,000), the Valencian Community (167,000), and Andalusia (161,000).
67% of applicants come from Central and South America. Colombia accounts for 26% of the total, followed by Morocco (13.4%), Venezuela (11.7%), and Peru (8.8%). The minister described the procedure as "successful" and a "milestone in our immigration policy".
