The phenomenon was primarily concentrated in Cordoba capital, the Alto Guadalquivir region, and south of Los Pedroches. The sky lit up with frequent flashes, and the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet)'s lightning detection system recorded hundreds of strikes in just a few hours, including both negative and positive discharges.
Municipalities such as Villa del Río, Montoro, Cardeña, and El Carpio were among the areas where the phenomenon was most visible. Aemet had previously warned of a weather change due to the arrival of a DANA (isolated depression at high levels) in the Iberian Peninsula, which would bring localized heavy showers and storms, as well as a drop in temperatures.
The province of Cordoba was under a yellow alert for rain and storms on Saturday afternoon. For Sunday, atmospheric stability is expected in the capital, with maximum temperatures reaching up to 39 degrees Celsius, although a yellow alert for high temperatures remains active in the Guadalquivir Valley.
