The shrine of Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta, Patroness of Córdoba, will open to devotees this coming Sunday, April 12, showcasing a new powder pink velvet mantle.

The shrine of Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta, the revered Patroness of Córdoba, is set to welcome the faithful on Sunday, April 12. This date coincides with the Second Sunday of Easter and the Day of Divine Mercy, offering devotees an opportunity to approach the image for prayers and thanksgiving.
For this special occasion, the image of the Virgin will be adorned with a new mantle, crafted in the Artesanía San Eloy embroidery workshop in Córdoba. The piece, created by Rafael Carmona Nieto with the collaboration of Manuela Jiménez and Daniel Cosano, is notable for its delicate powder pink velvet.
The mantle's design features a central cross of vegetal motifs embroidered in silver threads, from which rays of gilded silver sequins radiate in an X-shape. It also incorporates an application of gold tissue from the late 18th century and twelve five-pointed stars from the 19th century, embroidered in silver threads and embellished with antique Japanese coral beads, donated by Doña Ester Sierra.
The Diocese of Córdoba has announced that the display of the Patroness will be supported by parish volunteers. These volunteers will assist devotees wishing to ascend the stairs to present their petitions and gratitude directly to Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta. The shrine maintains its usual morning and afternoon hours, before and after each mass at the Sanctuary.
