Despite the extreme temperatures characteristic of a Cordoban summer, with highs frequently exceeding 40 ºC, the province's hotel sector has recorded a significant increase in tourist influx. This data, published by the National Statistics Institute (INE)'s Hotel Business Survey, refers exclusively to regulated hotel establishments, excluding tourist accommodations.
Specifically, Córdoba received 84,590 travelers in July, which is 5,060 more tourists than in the same month of the previous year, representing a 6.4% year-on-year increase. This growth marks a change in trend, reversing the declines observed for much of 2026 and consolidating July as one of the best months of the year in terms of evolution.
Overnight stays also saw an increase, albeit smaller, with 135,663 nights registered, up 3.2% from July 2025. The difference between the increase in travelers and overnight stays suggests slightly shorter stays by visitors.
The main driver of this rebound has been the domestic market, with a 16.2% increase in travelers residing in Spain. In contrast, foreign tourism showed a decrease of 7.9% in travelers and 5.2% in overnight stays.
This boost in July contrasts with the general trend of the first seven months of the year, which show an accumulated decrease of 6.3% in travelers and 5.9% in overnight stays compared to 2025. International tourism continues to be the weak point of the annual balance.
