Tourist apartments in Córdoba experienced an unprecedented month of occupancy in May, significantly boosted by national tourism. These figures, published by the National Statistics Institute (INE), show that both the province and the city of Córdoba broke records for travelers and overnight stays from residents in Spain.
Across the province, tourist apartments hosted 14,422 travelers in May, representing a 24.7% increase compared to the same month last year. This growth was largely due to a 47.1% rise in national tourists, who increased from 6,406 to 9,426. International tourists, on the other hand, saw a slight decrease of 3%, totaling 4,996.
In terms of overnight stays, the province recorded 29,141 nights, a 15.5% increase from the previous year. Stays by Spanish residents rose by 40.6%, reaching 19,766, while those by international tourists decreased by 15.9% to 9,375.
The city of Córdoba was the main focus of this dynamism. The city's apartments accommodated 12,760 travelers, a 30.1% increase compared to May last year. The national market led this growth with 7,949 visitors, up 52.5%, while international travelers saw a moderate increase of 4.8%, totaling 4,811.
Overnight stays in the city also showed a positive trend, with 26,091 nights recorded, a 24.8% increase from the previous year. Stays by Spanish tourists grew by 46.4% to 16,975, while those by international tourists slightly decreased by 2.7%, with 9,116 nights.
These INE figures highlight the excellent performance of national tourism in May, a month marked by intense tourist activity in Córdoba thanks to events such as the Cruces, Patios, and the Feria. This dynamism helped offset the reduced presence of the international market and solidified tourist apartments as a lodging segment with very positive evolution, outperforming hotels compared to May of the previous year.
