The Andalusian Health Service's (SAS) Summer Plan 2026 will allocate 13.5 million euros for staff reinforcement, representing a 14.1% increase in investment compared to last year. The objective is to ensure healthcare coverage and maintain the quality of medical attention throughout the summer period.
Specifically, 3,477 hires are planned for Córdoba, surpassing the 3,168 from the previous year. The initial investment amounts to 13.5 million euros, up from 11.8 million in 2025. The acting Minister of Health, Presidency, and Emergencies highlighted that this signifies "more resources, more investment, and greater response capacity than in previous years."
The reorganization of Primary Care activities aims to guarantee healthcare services for citizens by adjusting resources to seasonal demand, allowing staff to take their leave, and facilitating necessary renovations and upgrades in health centers.
Hospital planning focuses on adapting available resources to anticipated demand, ensuring the system's response capacity. 91.5% of hospital beds and 85% of operating rooms will remain operational from July to September, with an estimated 8,000 surgical procedures, over 267,000 outpatient consultations, and 290,000 diagnostic tests.
Taking advantage of the lower healthcare pressure during summer months, the SAS will intensify improvement, maintenance, and renovation efforts in the province's health centers. These interventions, with an investment of 880,000 euros in Córdoba, include adapting operating rooms at the Reina Sofía Hospital, upgrades at Los Morales Hospital, and renovations at Montilla Hospital, among others.
