The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), through the Institute for Just Transition (ITJ) and its affiliated entity, the Ciudad de la Energía Foundation (CIUDEN), has initiated a training program for the Network of Tourist Experiences of Coal. This initiative, which has already begun, aims to provide local managers with the necessary tools to promote destinations linked to the mining-industrial legacy.
The Network, currently comprising territories such as León, Teruel, Córdoba, As Pontes de García Rodríguez (A Coruña), and the mining regions of Asturias, is open to new members. Its objective is to foster cooperation among areas with a mining tradition, develop joint tourism products, and highlight common heritage as a differentiating element for just transition regions.
The training actions are designed to adapt to the specific needs of each territory. The first session took place on Wednesday, September 23, in Ponferrada (León). These workshops focus on building a shared narrative, connecting mining heritage with landscape, culture, gastronomy, and active tourism, as well as addressing aspects of commercialization, sustainability, and accessibility.
In Córdoba's case, the sessions will concentrate on the interpretation and enhancement of the mining-industrial heritage of the Valle del Guadiato, promoting the creation of integrated tourism experiences within a joint offer.

Concurrently, the Director General of CIUDEN, Yasodhara López, will participate in the XXVIII International Congresses on Industrial Heritage in Gijón to disseminate the network and its approach to revitalizing coal territories through culture and tourism.
