The trajectory of Coto Córdoba represents a remarkable success story in Cordoban sports. Since its establishment in 2022, the club has successfully channeled local passion for basketball, overcoming previous failed attempts and revitalizing a sport that had been relegated in the city.
In its fourth season, the green-and-white team has secured its promotion to Primera FEB, reflecting a model that combines sporting ambition with a professionalized structure. This synergy has been crucial for basketball in Córdoba to return to a prominent position, something that had not happened for a quarter of a century.
The project began on June 14, 2022, born from the merger of Coto Ciudad de Córdoba and El Carmen. This union aimed to end the fragmentation of local basketball, which prevented teams from progressing beyond the Primera Nacional. From the outset, Coto Córdoba distinguished itself by its ambition and by linking its colors to green and white, seeking a connection with Córdoba CF, a sporting benchmark in the province.
Despite a complex start, which included the inability to secure a vacant spot in LEB Plata and having to compete in Primera Nacional, the club demonstrated its determination. In 2023, Coto Córdoba secured a place in Liga EBA, where it had a great season, competing with UCB Camper Eurogaza for local supremacy.
The first on-court promotion came on May 10, 2024, when the Cordoban team defeated the reserve team of Movistar Estudiantes, securing their advancement to LEB Plata. Last season, despite being newly promoted to the third tier of Spanish basketball, the club showed its desire for continued progress. After a change in coaching, the team managed to secure its permanence, solidifying the project.
In 2025, Coto Córdoba took another step forward with the arrival of a new president, strengthening its structure. The sporting focus was on promotion to Primera FEB, with the addition of a coach with elite experience. The intelligently built squad was crowned champion of the Western Group, overcoming rivals such as Caja 87 and Baloncesto Valladolid.
The play-off tie against Amics Castelló is now part of the golden history of Cordoban sports. In just four years, Coto Córdoba has achieved goals that seemed unattainable in June 2022, positioning the city in a new competitive dimension in national basketball.
