The project, promoted by the College of Pharmacists, the Córdoba City Council, and the Territorial Delegation of Health, aims to create Spain's first provincial network of cardio and neuroprotected pharmacies. The objective is to equip pharmacists to become a fundamental link in the chain of survival during critical situations.
On-site courses accredited by the European Resuscitation Council have been provided for pharmacy health professionals equipped with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Participants learn to recognize cardiac arrests, alert emergency services, and use the AED, as well as to identify a stroke and provide assistance until medical services arrive.
Additionally, online training has been offered to health professionals in pharmacies across Córdoba capital and the province on stroke recognition, activating emergency services, and taking vital signs. Family doctors F. Javier Fonseca and Rafael A. Castro have led this training, emphasizing the importance of immediate intervention.
The health district highlights that rapid action in cases of cardiac arrest or cerebrovascular accident is crucial for survival and for reducing brain and cardiac damage. The network of cardio and neuroprotected pharmacies enhances citizen safety, transforming these establishments into public health safe spaces in all neighborhoods and municipalities.
