The city of Córdoba concluded 2025 with a historic figure of 151,602 Social Security affiliates, marking a 2.7% year-on-year increase, primarily driven by the health, education, and social services sectors.

A recent analysis by the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), titled 'The annual municipal labor market bulletin,' has shed light on the forces behind this remarkable growth in the Cordovan capital. The study focuses on the ten activities with the highest number of employed individuals in the city, highlighting the crucial role of healthcare activities and education.
The healthcare sector stands as the leading employer, totaling 17,646 professionals by the end of 2025, representing a 5.9% increase from the previous year. This growth, adding nearly a thousand new staff members, is particularly significant as it consolidates an upward trend already observed in 2024. Meanwhile, education, the third-largest employment area in Córdoba, saw a notable improvement of 4.3%, reaching 14,336 Social Security affiliates.
However, the greatest dynamism was recorded in non-residential social services activities, which include care for the elderly and people with disabilities. This sector experienced a spectacular 12.4% growth, adding 555 new workers and slightly exceeding 5,000 affiliates. This surge is attributed to the aging population in Córdoba, where the group aged 65 and over has increased from 19.6% to 21.3% of the registered population between 2021 and 2025.
Other sectors also contributed to the positive performance of the labor market. Building services, including cleaning and gardening, grew by 3.6%, reaching 6,155 employed individuals. Specialized construction jobs, such as electricians and plumbers, increased by 3.5%, totaling 4,271 members. Land transport, covering passenger and freight movement, registered a 3% rise, with 4,146 employed.
In contrast, hospitality was the only one of the top ten economic activities to experience a decline, losing a hundred workers and settling at 10,482 employed, representing a 0.9% drop.
