The Córdoba women's team has made history by winning their first Iberdrola Andalusian Championship of provincial Andalusian bowling teams, overcoming the strong Jaén squad in an exciting match.

The historic triumph took place at the Modesto Fernández Mendoza bowling alley in El Calonge, Palma del Río, marking a turning point for the traditional sport in the province. The team from Córdoba, led by Irene Ruiz, Claudia Rodríguez, Naiala Corral, Virtudes Ruiz, and Carmen María Amaya, secured a decisive 2-0 victory in points.
This achievement gains even greater significance considering they faced the Jaén team, which had dominated the tournament since its inception in 2018 with five titles. The match began with a determined Córdoba showing great resolve from the outset. While Jaén struggled to adapt to the bowling alley, the Cordoban players scored 58 pins in the first hand, taking the first point.
Local dominance quickly solidified, with a standout performance by Carmen María Amaya, who achieved the best throw of the match with 43 pins, leading a charge of 91 that put the score at a clear 3-0 and ignited the crowd's enthusiasm. Despite a comeback attempt by Jaén, who narrowed the gap to 4-3 after a more than hour-long interruption due to an intense storm, Córdoba managed the difficult track conditions well and closed the first point with intelligent play.
In the second point, Córdoba started strong again, although Jaén managed to take a clear 5-1 lead. However, the Cordoban team demonstrated character and resilience, staging a memorable comeback that culminated in a final charge of 55 pins, leveling the point. The final pressure affected Jaén, who ran out of options in the decisive hand, thus confirming Córdoba's definitive victory with scores of 6-3 and 6-5 in the two points.
This victory represents a milestone for Andalusian bowling in Córdoba, consolidating the growth of 'bolos serranos' in the province and confirming the high competitive level of its players, who have managed to overcome Jaén's hegemony in a final that is now part of regional sports history.
