A joint inspection by the Civil Guard, through its Seprona unit, and the Territorial Delegation of Health and Consumption of the Junta de Andalucía has led to the provisional closure of a food establishment in Cordoba. The operation began after receiving information about potential irregularities in food safety.
During the inspection, numerous deficiencies violating current regulations were identified. These included a lack of hygiene in refrigeration chambers, freezers, and food handling areas. Food was found stored alongside waste, dirt, and the presence of insects, as well as products being thawed without proper guarantees and food stored directly on the floor.
Furthermore, inadequate temperature control in refrigeration units and the co-storage of food with live animals were detected. Products without traceability, unlabeled items, or expired food were also found, breaching food information regulations and posing a clear health risk.
Agents also verified that the establishment advertised beef on its menu, but traceability checks revealed it was actually European cow loin, a misrepresentation that could mislead consumers. Deficiencies in allergen information were also noted.
As a consequence of these irregularities and the imminent risk to public health, the Territorial Delegation of Health and Consumption decided on the provisional closure of the establishment and the precautionary seizure of food products. The Civil Guard has processed the corresponding complaints for alleged violations of public health, agri-food quality, and consumer defense regulations.
