This new Loquis channel, specializing in travel podcasts, offers a unique immersion into historical Córdoba, moving away from conventional tourist guides. The initiative aims to connect listeners with the personalities who shaped the city, from philosophers to artists, through narratives that bring their experiences and contributions to life.
The sound journey revives figures such as Lubna of Córdoba, a 10th-century scholar who organized the caliphal library of Alhakén II, and the Umayyad princess Wallada, known for her literary gatherings in the 11th century. Their episodes help understand Córdoba's importance as a center of knowledge and culture in past eras, especially when walking around the Mezquita or the Jardines de la Victoria.
Ancient philosophy also holds a prominent place, with episodes dedicated to Seneca, whose stoicism is explored near the Puerta de Almodóvar, and Maimonides, whose statue in Calle Judíos evokes his wisdom and exile. Likewise, Averroes is presented next to the Muralla de Cairuán, highlighting his effort to reconcile faith and reason. The podcast also covers the life and work of artists like Julio Romero de Torres and the bullfighter Manolete, as well as the more contemporary figure of Antonio Gala, whose foundation for young artists in the Bulevar Gran Capitán continues to inspire.
“"Ultimately, cities are not just buildings; they are the people who dreamed them before us."
This Loquis project is presented as a tribute to those who, with their thought and creativity, have forged Córdoba's identity, maintaining a balance between its historical legacy and its vibrant present. It is an invitation to experience the city in a deeper and more personal way, connecting with the voices that made it unique.
