The Delegate for Culture of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, Gabriel Duque, announced a new line of aid aimed at protecting and enhancing the province's historical and artistic sites. Duque emphasized the importance of this heritage as part of the collective identity and the need for administrative collaboration to ensure its enjoyment by future generations.
This initiative seeks to support municipalities and private entities owning heritage assets in undertaking essential actions for buildings and monuments. The aid is divided into two streams: one for the conservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of real estate of historical-artistic interest, and another specifically for the conservation and rehabilitation of the province's castles.
Entities with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants, as well as private legal entities owning heritage assets in municipalities of the same population size, are eligible for this aid. For private properties, the requirement that they be open to the public with a minimum visiting schedule is maintained, thus reinforcing the social function of heritage.
The call will fund projects including the drafting of technical plans and the execution of works. Aid will not exceed 75% of the project cost, nor €50,000 per action, amounts considered sufficient to drive interventions that would be difficult to undertake with own resources alone.
Applications will be evaluated through competitive bidding, based on objective criteria such as the property's heritage protection level, conservation risk, technical adequacy of the proposed intervention, and the project's capacity to ensure future protection. Priority will be given to actions of greatest heritage interest and intervention need.
Duque concluded that conserving heritage means preserving collective memory, keeping the identity of towns alive, and bequeathing historical heritage to future generations. The deadline for applications is September 2nd, with all processing to be done through the Electronic Headquarters of the Provincial Council of Córdoba.
