The main cast features renowned talents from the Spanish musical theater scene. Pablo Puyol takes on the iconic role of Harry Houdini, while Beatriz Mur portrays Bess. Christian Escuredo plays Theo, Houdini's brother, and Juan Dos Santos serves as the narrator of this story.
This top-tier ensemble is completed by Felipe Flores, Miguel Ángel Collado, Pablo Ceresuela, Alejandro Ali, Lara Sagastizabal, Elena Rueda, Soraya Bello, Abril Aguirre Jurado, and Alba Dusmet. Swings include Sergio Escribano and Lucía Cardona.
The show, produced by LETSGO and beon. Entertainment, combines large-scale illusion numbers, such as the appearance of an elephant, with a captivating theatrical narrative. The musical, written and directed by Federico Bellone, is the result of over a decade of development and was a resounding success during its previous run in Madrid.
The production pays homage to the legendary escape artist, fusing magic, emotion, and live music with immersive scenography and cutting-edge visual effects. The creative team, led by Bellone, includes Paolo Carta (magic design), Gillian Bruce (choreography), Valerio Tiberi (lighting), Chiara Donato (costumes and characterization), and Clara Abruzzese (scenography).
The musical score, by Giovani Maria Lori, draws inspiration from Hungarian folklore, evoking the roots of the famous illusionist. Resident musical direction is by Carlos López, with advisory from Julio Awad and sound design by Poti Martín. Sebastián Prada is associate director, Romeo Urbano handles lyric translation and adaptation, and Marta Melchiorre is associate choreographer.
Based on the book “El hombre imposible” (The Impossible Man), the musical recounts the intense life of Harry Houdini, exploring his risk-taking, obsession, ingenuity, and his constant struggle to push human limits.
