The court considers the defendant guilty of a crime against public health and, in addition to the prison sentence, has imposed two fines totaling 2,690,638 euros. The ruling acknowledges a highly qualified mitigating factor for undue delays.

The events took place in the early hours of December 3, 2024, when the Integrated External Surveillance System (SIVE) detected a semi-rigid boat approaching the shore in the area known as Arroyo de las Huesas. Operators observed numerous bales being unloaded from the drug-laden boat onto the sand by several individuals, who then loaded them into two stolen all-terrain vehicles.

The arrival of the Guardia Civil triggered a pursuit. One of the all-terrain vehicles crashed into a tree, and its occupants managed to flee. The now-convicted man, driving the second vehicle, abandoned it and attempted to escape on foot through the countryside, but was eventually intercepted and arrested by agents.

Inside the abandoned vehicles, the Guardia Civil located 40 burlap sacks containing a total of 1,469 kilos of hashish. According to the sentence, the drug would have reached a value of approximately 2.7 million euros on the illicit market.

The Provincial Court of Huelva has rejected the request for suspension of the prison sentence for the convicted individual, who will have to serve the imposed sentence.
