The fairgrounds of Moguer host from tomorrow, Friday, the Festival in honor of the Virgen de Montemayor, a celebration that will last until September 9th. The fair, described as open and participatory, will feature over 150 booths and free access to all scheduled shows, offering activities for all ages.
The Moguer City Council has implemented an enhanced security device for the occasion, including surveillance cameras in the fairgrounds and a permanent 24-hour presence of the Local Police. In coordination with the Civil Guard, access control and overall security will be ensured. Additionally, a fire service, a medicalized van, and Civil Protection will be operational to handle any incidents, including the distribution of identification bracelets for minors.
Devotion to the Virgen de Montemayor is central to the Festival. The novena is being held at the parish church since August 30th. On September 8th, Virgen's Day, the Hdad. Matriz de Montemayor will hold a Solemn High Mass at 11:00 AM, followed by the procession of the Patron Saint through the city center starting at 8:00 PM.
The official opening of the Festival and the lighting of the festive illumination will take place tomorrow, Friday, at 10:30 PM. The event will be presided over by mayor Gustavo Cuéllar, accompanied by the Hno. Mayor of Montemayor, Sergio Gamón, the municipal corporation, parish priest José A. Omist, this year's Festival Queen Daniela Márquez, and Mister Moguer 2026, Manuel González. Subsequently, the photographic exhibition “Al ritmo de los 80” will be inaugurated at the City Council's booth.
The performance program includes singer Manuel Cortés on Saturday, the Children's Gala with Julián y Pendorcho, and the duo Pepe y Vizio on Sunday the 6th. On Monday the 7th, the Senior Gala will feature artist Marisol Bizcocho, followed by a concert by El Granuja y sus Majaras. On Tuesday the 8th, the main day, Argentina will perform, and on Wednesday the 9th, the group Tendereke will close the festivities with fireworks, subject to fire risk levels.
Admission to the municipal booth and access to the various areas of the fairgrounds will be free. The program also includes musical street bands, orchestras, DJs, parades, and recreational activities for children. Attractions will be silenced daily from 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM for individuals with auditory hypersensitivity.
