The blaze, which originated at 2:29 PM in a marshland area near the Odiel River, was declared under control at 7:15 PM this Sunday. The affected area features "very dense" vegetation, partly dry, which complicated initial efforts.
Currently, forest firefighters are working on the ground to complete the final stages of extinguishing the fire. The fire's perimeter is surrounded by a control line, a strip of land with no vegetation or already burnt vegetation, although hot spots may remain within the area.
The fire was declared stabilized at 6:15 PM, at which point, while not yet controlled, it was "progressing favorably as it did not present active fronts that would allow the fire to advance freely," according to operational sources.
Plan Infoca personnel battled the flames for over four hours, deploying an initial task force that was later expanded. Forest firefighters, operations technicians, water-carrying vehicles, and aerial resources such as helicopters and a water-scooping plane participated in the extinguishing efforts.
