The Almería Provincial Council has approved the award of a project aimed at improving accessibility and the road surface of two important routes in the municipality of María. The total investment amounts to €500,000, with the goal of transforming the current layout and dignifying access.
The Deputy of Public Works, Antonio J. Rodríguez, highlighted that the works, scheduled to begin in September, are vital for pedestrian and vehicular mobility. "The Provincial Plans are the most evident example of the Council's collaboration with the province's municipalities," he stated, noting that these projects would be difficult for local councils to undertake alone.
The action is divided into two interventions. The main one focuses on the town's main thoroughfare and the A-317 road, covering approximately 1,055 meters. This phase aims to establish a fully accessible and aesthetically pleasing route through paving with cobblestones and expanding pedestrian areas.
The second intervention will take place on Camino La Peguera, a critical access street connecting to Camino Real and leading to the municipal 7-a-side football field. This road, currently unpaved and in poor condition, will be asphalted over a 330-meter stretch.
These works, awarded by the Almería Provincial Council and the Ayuntamiento de María, will not only enhance the municipality's aesthetics and safety but also remove architectural barriers and improve access to sports facilities and properties.
The president and mayor of María, whose name is not specified in the original text, indicated that the works will commence in September and represent a half-million-euro investment to reorganize the Camino Real and improve its accessibility, replacing the dirt on Camino de la Peguera with asphalt to ensure safe access.
The mayor concluded by emphasizing the collaboration between the City Council and the Provincial Council for the growth of María and to ensure the municipality has the same opportunities as others.
