The Government of Spain will fund the improvement of riverbeds, roads, and public spaces in Castilléjar, Granada, with over 613,000 euros to repair storm damage.

The central Government has approved funding of over 613,000 euros for the improvement of riverbeds, roads, and public spaces in the town of Castilléjar, in the province of Granada. This investment addresses the damage caused by storms recorded in late January.
The approved amount will enable the execution of approximately ten projects. The work will focus on restoring municipal infrastructure, optimizing mobility, and reinforcing the safety of riverbeds and public spaces affected by the heavy rains.
The Government's sub-delegate in Granada, José Antonio Montilla, accompanied by the town's mayor, Estefanía Martínez, visited Castilléjar to see the planned interventions firsthand. Montilla highlighted the Government's commitment to small municipalities, ensuring the rapid recovery of essential infrastructure and the provision of quality services, covering 100% of the project costs.
Among the projects with the largest investments are works in Las Anegas (over 122,000 euros), the improvement of the Presa del Cura (section 2) (almost 113,000 euros), and interventions on the Guardal River (around 93,000 euros). The public road of San Juan will also be improved (nearly 80,000 euros), along with actions in the Barrio Nuevo, Barrio de la Pradera, the Los Olivos path, and the Galera River, in addition to other streets and roads.
These investments not only restore infrastructure "heavily used" by the population but also "strengthen the municipality's capacity" to face future intense rainfall episodes with greater guarantees.
These aid measures are part of Royal Decree-Law 5/2026, which allocates 7 billion euros to Andalusia and Extremadura to mitigate the effects of storms. In the province of Granada, the Government has already approved over 278.5 million euros for reconstruction and prevention in 119 affected municipalities, with a total of 128 applications received.
