The festivities on September 8 in Baza culminated with the procession of the Virgen de la Piedad, the city's patron saint, an act of deep respect and fervor that paraded through the central streets.

The procession, which began at eight in the evening, was presided over by the bishop of the diocese, Mons. Francisco Jesús Orozco, accompanied by the Head Sister of the Brotherhood of the Virgen de la Piedad of Baza, María Piedad Checa, and the parish priest of San Juan and rector of the Piedad temple, Pablo Rodríguez. Dozens of citizens carried the image on their shoulders, illuminating its path and fulfilling vows. Brotherhoods and confraternities from the city and the region also participated, including the Brotherhood of the Virgen de la Piedad of Guadix.
The municipal corporations of Guadix and Baza, under maces, accompanied the image, maintaining a historical tradition that unites them under the protection of the virgin. The procession proceeded normally, with greetings at the Hogar San José and the Plaza Mayor.
As a novelty, the Municipal Group of Choirs and Dances offered an emotional greeting to the patron saint in the Plaza de las Eras, performing three pieces from their repertoire, a gesture that was greatly appreciated by the spectators.
After the procession, the municipal corporations returned to the old Town Hall, now a museum, to return the official banners. At that moment, the Cascamorras, embodied this year by Antonio J. Vera, performed the last flag oath in Baza.
The mayor of Baza, Pedro J. Ramos, made a significant gesture towards the city's Roma population, carrying a Roma 'cachava' (walking stick), a gift from a neighbor, on his arm instead of the traditional scepter, which was carried by the first deputy mayor, Ramón López.
The day of September 8 began with a solemn mass in the church of La Piedad, officiated by the bishop and local clergy, bringing together dozens of Baza residents. The evening of September 7 also saw a large floral offering to the Piedad, reflecting the city's fervor.
