The mayor of Baza, Pedro J. Ramos, and the director of Cáritas Interparroquial Baza, Carmen García, have signed the renewal of the agreement that regulates the direct subsidy the council annually grants to the social organization. The aid for this year 2026 sees a forty percent increase, rising from 5,000 to 7,000 euros.
According to the agreement, the municipal contribution will be allocated to "alleviating the most basic needs for non-perishable food, clothing, and footwear for individuals at greatest risk of social exclusion in the area, as well as promoting volunteerism and covering the entity's own expenses."
During the meeting, which was also attended by the Councilor for Social Welfare, Priscila Martínez, the director of Cáritas Interparroquial Baza outlined some of the initiatives the organization is undertaking in the city.
“"We committed to increasing the subsidy, and as soon as we could, we did, although we would have liked to raise it much higher and much sooner. We recognize the work and effort of Cáritas and are at their disposal to reach any collaboration agreements they request and that are possible. They are helping many people, and that should always be appreciated. Their presence in the city is essential."
