Residents of the San García urbanization denounce the neglect of several private plots located between Torre del Arroyo del Lobo and Torre de Punta Carnero streets. These areas, they explain, have for years presented a dangerous accumulation of garbage bags, plastics, pruning waste, and other combustible materials, surrounded by tall, dry undergrowth.
This situation, exacerbated by high temperatures, creates a "perfect storm" for fire propagation, as residents warn. They claim to have been demanding municipal intervention for over three years, which they consider insufficient, as previous clearing efforts were partial. This summer, they report, the plot has not even been addressed.

The Barrio San García platform has gathered these neighborhood complaints and requested solutions from the Algeciras City Council. The fire in Sotorebolo, which occurred in an area of low scrub near the homes, required a deployment of Firefighters, Local Police, National Police, and Infoca. Although the flames were controlled and did not affect any houses, the smoke plume spread through the urbanization.
Residents also point out that the poor condition of the plots affects public health and the urban environment, potentially becoming breeding grounds for diseases and bad odors. They reiterate the urgency of acting to prevent future incidents that could endanger nearby homes.
The southern area of Algeciras has experienced several fires and attempted fires this summer, increasing concern in the sector.
