The San Roque council aims to acquire 47.6% of a plot of almost 4,500 square meters, currently held by the Regional Housing and Rehabilitation Agency of Andalusia (AVRA), to unlock the construction of approximately 100 homes and an underground parking lot with capacity for 500 vehicles.
Land ownership is divided between the San Roque City Council (4.7%) and AVRA (47.6%), which has kept the plot in a state of co-ownership. The mayor, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, has sent letters to the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, and several regional councilors and delegates to formalize the proposal.
The initial municipal offer amounts to one million euros for AVRA's share, representing about 2,100 square meters of land and 7,500 square meters of buildable area. The possibility of an exchange with another municipal plot is also being considered.
The mayor believes that the development of this space, located in the heart of San Roque, is a first-class urban transformation opportunity. The initiative seeks to overcome the current co-ownership situation and facilitate the execution of the residential and parking project.
Previously, in 2019, the City Council had proposed using this land for the new Palace of Justice, a proposal that was ultimately rejected by the regional administration.
