The mobilization, which took place last Saturday, marched through the main avenues of the urban center to the land where the infrastructure is planned. The gathering was promoted by a neighborhood association and supported by representatives of the municipal opposition, as well as numerous private citizens.
The neighborhood group argues that the project not only threatens the continuity of about twenty homes but will also significantly alter the appearance of the northern entrance to Los Barrios. They fear considerable urban transformation and an increase in heavy traffic, which would create industrial pressure in a currently quiet area.
“"The industrial estate is poison for Los Barrios."
The Vega del Moral area, classified as industrial land since 2008, covers 40 hectares next to the A-381. A logistics company plans to establish a logistics zone in this location, considering it strategic due to its position in the heart of the region and its proximity to important communication routes.
Although the project's processing is in its initial stages, it has already generated strong opposition. Key concerns include the potential disappearance of leisure gardens, the impact on a local business and existing homes, and the increase in heavy vehicle traffic.
A municipal spokesperson indicated in early March that, should the complex urban planning process move forward, which could take several years and require an environmental assessment from the Junta de Andalucía, the specific situation of each affected property will be analyzed. Furthermore, it was noted that the planning for the 40 hectares reserves 45% of the land for open spaces and green areas, compatible with leisure gardens and part of the industrial warehouses.
