The Territorial Commission for Spatial Planning and Urbanism of Cádiz has ratified the modification of Los Barrios' General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU). This decision allows for the definition of the Guadacorte Sur urbanizable land sector, a project that not only envisions residential construction but also the implementation of essential facilities.
This area, strategically located next to the urban core of Los Cortijillos, covers an area of 285,358 square meters. It is projected to build up to 786 homes, of which 276 will be designated for official protection, thus facilitating access to housing for more families. Furthermore, the plan includes the provision for educational centers and other necessary community facilities.
The Junta de Andalucía has reported that this PGOU innovation is processed within the framework of the Andalusian Urban Planning Law (LOUA) and adheres to the transitional provision of the Law for the Promotion of Territorial Sustainability in Andalucía (Lista). The approval took place during a periodic meeting of the Territorial Commission, where various issues related to provincial urban planning are addressed.
Representatives from the Junta de Andalucía participated in the meeting, including the provincial delegate, Mercedes Colombo, along with heads of key areas such as Urban Planning, Public Works, Health, Justice, Agriculture, and Tourism. Members of local corporations and specialized technicians were also present, highlighting the inter-institutional collaboration in this important project.
