This measure, implemented by the Territorial Delegation of Sustainability and Environment of the Junta de Andalucía in Cádiz, aims to ensure user safety given the ground instability. The closure impacts vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians alike, with prohibition signs installed to prevent access.
A spokesperson for the Delegation explained that heavy machinery is currently being used to stabilize the path and repair damage from the landslides. These ground movements are a direct consequence of the heavy rainfall accumulated during the storm episodes that hit the region in the early months of the year.
“"The terrain shows instability, and ground movements continue to occur, which has led to the decision to keep this forest access closed until safety can be guaranteed."
The Junta de Andalucía has urged caution, asking hikers, cyclists, and drivers to avoid the area while conditioning work is underway. The presence of machinery and the risk of further landslides increase the danger of the surroundings.
The forest path between Hoyo de Don Pedro and El Bujeo is a route frequently used for outdoor activities and as a connection between rural areas of the natural park in the Campo de Gibraltar. Its temporary closure affects both recreational users and those who use it as a thoroughfare. Reopening will depend on the progress of the work and ground stability, with no specific date yet set.
