A total of 32 of the country's top teams have begun competing in the Spanish Club Basketball Championship for the cadet men's category in the towns of La Línea, San Roque, and Los Barrios. The women's competition, meanwhile, is being held in San Fernando.
Real Madrid stands out as the historically most successful team in the men's category, holding seven titles in the last eight editions. Their dominance was only interrupted in 2024 when Barça claimed victory in the final. In the overall record, the white team leads with 13 championships, closely followed by Barça with 12. Other teams such as Joventut (five titles), Unicaja, and Movistar Estudiantes (three each) are also on the list of winners.
Fans will have the opportunity to witness the talent of emerging future stars. For Real Madrid, players like Pablo Mera, Aniel Fevry, Rhys Robinson, and Marvis Okponmwosa are notable. Barça, although without Jan Cerdán who is with the junior and U22 teams, boasts promising national talents such as Arnau Puig, Jan Martín, and Pau Cruz.
Other names to watch closely include Izan Pérez (Joventut), Pablo Calderín (CB Gran Canaria), Alonso de la Iglesia (Unicaja), Diego Díaz (Cajasiete Fundación CB Canarias), Alejandro Tovar (Casademont Zaragoza), Daniel Villalba and Andrés Crespo (Zentro Básket), as well as Sergio Palau and Carlos Elordi (Valencia Basket), many of whom have international experience.
The competition will unfold in several phases. The 32 participants have been divided into eight groups (A-H) for the first round, with teams like Real Madrid facing Joventut Badalona, Baskonia, and Mefiex Sagrado Cáceres in Group A, and Barça against Unicaja, Casademont Zaragoza, and Cajasiete Fundación CB Canarias in Group B, among others.
Following the matches this Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday which will complete the first phase, the round of 16 will be played on Wednesday the 20th in La Línea and Los Barrios. From this round onwards, all games will move to the La Línea arena. The quarterfinals will take place on Thursday, the semifinals on Friday (17:00 and 19:00), and on Sunday, the bronze medal match (10:30) and the grand final (12:30) will be contested.
