The blaze, which originated in a paint and body shop storing flammable substances, spread rapidly through the industrial complex during the night. By early Wednesday morning, the flames were still active, though firefighters were confident of bringing it under control in the coming hours.
Sources from the Firefighters' Consortium indicated that the fire began inside the workshop, and flames quickly extended to nearby warehouses due to interconnected ceilings. A total of sixteen warehouses were affected, although no personal injuries were reported.
Sixteen personnel are working at the scene with nine vehicles deployed, six from the Algeciras station and three from Los Barrios.
