Beyond the main concerts scheduled at the Parque María Cristina, the most significant flamenco event of the summer in Algeciras has organized a parallel program aimed at immersing attendees and locals in the universe of the celebrated guitarist.
The week dedicated to flamenco, guitar, and the legacy of Paco de Lucía will kick off on Monday, July 6th, at 7:00 PM with a large flashmob in Plaza Marqués de Verboom, an event designed to bring together fans and the curious in one of the city's most iconic spaces.
Starting Tuesday, July 7th, the Paco de Lucía Interpretation Center will host the exhibition Guitarras Arte-Flamenco. This showcase will feature authentic lutherie masterpieces, offering a closer look at the instrument that made Paco de Lucía a global legend.
Between July 7th and 10th, participants can engage in various masterclasses led by renowned specialists. Sessions will cover disciplines such as palmas and compás with Macarena Andrades, flamenco cajón with Pepe Rodríguez, guitar with Fran de Algeciras, and dance (tangos and bulerías) with José El Pañero. All will take place at the Paco de Lucía Interpretation Center.
The parallel program will conclude on Saturday, July 11th, at 11:00 AM with the traditional Encuentro de Lutieres (Luthiers' Gathering). Artisans and experts will share the secrets behind the construction of flamenco guitars, providing detailed insights into this highly admired instrument.
