The Civil Guard of Córdoba, in collaboration with the Local Police of Estepa, has detained a 44-year-old resident of Puente Genil, as the alleged perpetrator of seven counts of robbery, one of document forgery, two against road safety, and one of assault on law enforcement officers.
The investigation began after a report of a vehicle theft from a home in Puente Genil. Initial inquiries revealed that the stolen car might have been used to commit butane gas cylinder thefts at service stations in Casariche and Herrera, in Sevilla, as well as in storage rooms in Puente Genil itself.
During the process, it was discovered that the individual had fled a police checkpoint in La Roda de Andalucía (Sevilla) with a dozen butane gas cylinders. The detainee is a repeat offender, known to the officers, with four previous arrests for similar incidents in recent months.
The Civil Guard successfully recovered the stolen vehicle, which at the time of the arrest contained 12 butane gas cylinders stolen that same night from a nearby service station. The arrested individual and the instructed proceedings have been placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
