These short-term programs, designed for acquiring specific skills, aim to meet labor market demands and the increasing internationalization of higher education. The UCA thus expands its offerings, allowing access to specialized training often without requiring prior university studies.
The first initiative is the HVAC Specialization Technician micro-credential, which will be taught in person between May 4 and June 25. With a workload of 14.5 ECTS credits (362.5 total hours, 116 of direct instruction), this course is limited to 15 places and is aimed at professionals in the industrial and naval sectors of the province of Cádiz. Its objective is to update knowledge in air conditioning, ventilation, and environmental control, with an emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainability, strengthening qualifications in a strategic area for the region.
The second micro-credential, titled Tools for the design and implementation of international joint university degrees, will run from May 22 to 29. This 1 ECTS credit program (25 hours) combines in-person sessions at the Constitución 1812 Building on the Cádiz campus with synchronous online sessions. It is organized by the Vice-Rectorate for Degrees and Quality and the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization.
Aimed at international relations managers, academic administrators, and technical staff, the course covers the regulatory framework, academic design, governance, and administrative management of international joint degrees. It will also address aspects such as student and faculty mobility, risk and opportunity assessment, student management, and the use of digital platforms, including the European alliance SEA-EU, in which the University of Cádiz participates.
These initiatives are part of the flexible training model promoted by the UCA, offering brief and specific courses to improve employability and update skills. Micro-credentials differ from bachelor's and master's degrees due to their shorter duration and practical focus, responding to specific training needs in the professional environment and facilitating lifelong learning.
