The incident occurred on April 7, when agents from the Civil Guard Traffic Detachment of Jerez de la Frontera intercepted a car on the AP-4, heading towards Cádiz, near the municipality of Puerto Real. The initial purpose of the stop was to issue a traffic violation.
During the vehicle inspection, agents observed suspicious signs inside, leading to a more thorough search. This search resulted in the discovery of four bales of hashish, with a total weight of 170.8 kilograms.
The driver of the car underwent alcohol and drug detection tests, yielding a positive result for narcotics, pending laboratory confirmation. Consequently, a complaint was filed against him in accordance with Article 14.1 of the Road Safety Law.
Both occupants were arrested as alleged perpetrators of a public health offense. They were subsequently transferred to Civil Guard facilities in Jerez de la Frontera for the preparation of official reports and later placed at the disposal of the Puerto Real Court of First Instance.
