The Paseo Marítimo Puntales-La Paz, opened in 2010, stands as a well-kept balcony of Cádiz overlooking the bay, though its potential is diminished by limited hospitality and commercial options.

The Paseo Marítimo Puntales - La Paz, an extensive promenade nearly three kilometers long fully inaugurated on December 15, 2010, has established itself as one of Cádiz's most unique locations. With an investment of approximately 3 million euros, this infrastructure, which also involved the renovation of Avenida de Bahía and the Astilleros area, offers wide and clear views of the Bay, including the two bridges that cross it and the presence of Navantia.
Despite its spaciousness, pleasant pavement, and cleanliness, making it ideal for walking or sports thanks to its bike lane, the promenade does not enjoy the same recognition as other emblematic city spots like La Caleta or the Paseo Marítimo de La Victoria. The main reason appears to be the limited offering of bars and restaurants, numbering barely three or four along its route. Establishments such as 'La Tapería del Lulu', 'Entre dos puentes', and 'El Navegante' are some of the few hospitality points, complemented by the terrace of the Real Club Náutico Alcázar, 'El Rincón de Silvia'.
Residents like Marisa López acknowledge it is "one of the most beautiful areas of Cádiz" but "not a very busy place." She points out that activity significantly increases on Mondays thanks to the street market known as 'Piojito,' which brings life to the area. However, other residents like Luis Domínguez consider the promenade to be "underutilized" for sports, highlighting its protection from the wind, ideal for running more calmly than on the beach.
Where the Paseo Marítimo Puntales - La Paz does stand out is in fishing. Its location in the Bay, with less choppy waters than the open sea, attracts numerous enthusiasts. "You can fish very peacefully here," comments Manuel Rodríguez, who values the wide sidewalk that allows this hobby without disturbing anyone. This space has thus become a tranquil meeting point for fishermen and residents.
Despite not being a primary focus of the city, many residents like María Franco appreciate the promenade's tranquility and cleanliness. "Although it lacks more activity, for us, the peace we breathe here looking out at the Bay of Cádiz is wonderful," she states, enjoying its status as the "little brother" to the traditional Paseo Marítimo.
