To mark Armed Forces Day, the Navy has scheduled a visit to Melilla by several of its units based in Cádiz. The patrol boat Vigía and the Cádiz Diving Unit (UNBUDIZ), both part of the Puntales Naval Station, will make a stop at the port of Melilla on Saturday, June 6th.

During their stay, the patrol boat Vigía will dock at the Mineral Loading Dock alongside another vessel, the Isla Pinto. Both ships will be open to the public from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, allowing visitors to learn about the capabilities and missions of these units from the Maritime Action Force of Cádiz.

Meanwhile, the Cádiz Diving Unit will conduct a static demonstration of diving equipment and materials in Consejo de Europa square. Attendees will be able to see the resources the Navy uses for search operations, underwater reconnaissance, explosive ordnance disposal, and maritime support.

The Navy has stated its "deep commitment to the city of Melilla regarding maritime security" and invites the public to participate in these activities. The aim is to bring the daily work of the Armed Forces closer to citizens, both within and outside national territory.

The Command of the Maritime Action Force Units in Cádiz (MARDIZ), operational since 2014, is a key element in the State's action at sea. Currently, its command includes units such as the patrol boat Vigía, the patrol boat Medas, the Auxiliary Ship Mar Caribe, the tugboat La Graña, the Cádiz Diving Unit, and the Naval Detachment of Alborán. It also has patrol boats in Málaga, Ceuta, and Melilla.

The Cádiz Diving Unit (UNBUDIZ), one of the Navy's three military diving units, is dedicated to operational missions, afloat maintenance and repairs, and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD).

The patrol boats Vigía and Isla Pinto contribute to the State's Action at Sea by protecting national maritime interests and controlling sovereign and national interest maritime spaces, conducting Presence, Surveillance, and Deterrence Operations.
