The recent assembly of the Don Bosco Alumni Association of 'San Ignacio' Salesian College in Cádiz concluded with the appointment of Manuel Ignacio Rey Soto as its new president. His term will span four years, covering the period from 2026 to 2030.
During the ordinary session, both the economic balance and the budget of the association were presented. Additionally, Loyalty Diplomas were awarded, and posthumous recognitions were made. A video summarizing the activities of the previous year, 2025, was also shown to attendees.
The electoral board, responsible for overseeing the presidential election process, was composed of Cristóbal Sánchez, president of the management committee; José Manuel Pozas; and Óscar Cuadrado, secretary of the Regional Federation of Alumni. With the participation of ninety-five associates and no votes against, the sole candidacy presented by Manuel Ignacio Rey Soto was approved unanimously.
“"The alumni association is the best calling card the Salesian house of Cádiz can have, as we are a tide of gratitude returning with love to Saint John Bosco and the Salesians."
Following his election, Manuel Ignacio Rey Soto expressed his gratitude to Juan Juliá Bayón, the outgoing president, for his dedication during the two previous four-year terms leading the alumni collective. He also stated his intention to collaborate closely with other members of the Salesian Family and with other alumni associations in the city, with the aim of promoting Catholic education.
Born in Cádiz in 1974, Manuel Ignacio Rey Soto is currently a Catholic Religion teacher in a public high school in the province. He holds a degree in History from the University of Cádiz and has completed his religious sciences training at the Ecclesiastical University of San Dámaso.
The Don Bosco Alumni Association of Cádiz was founded in 1909, stemming from the gratitude of the first alumni of the Salesian college in the city.
