The Provincial Council of Cádiz received a group of these children at the Provincial Palace, in an initiative that has become a summer tradition and is financially supported by the provincial institution. The Deputy of International Cooperation, Ana Moreno, highlighted the solidarity of the people of Cádiz, who host a quarter of the more than 600 minors participating in the program across Andalusia.
This program, promoted by the Provincial Federation of Solidarity Associations with the Sahara of Cádiz, chaired by Antonio García Manzano, allows minors to enjoy a safe environment and participate in educational, cultural, and leisure activities, away from the extreme temperatures of the Tindouf desert. Additionally, they undergo medical tests for health monitoring.
The collaboration between the Provincial Council of Cádiz and the Provincial Federation of Solidarity Associations with the Sahara of Cádiz dates back almost two decades. Since 2007, the institution has allocated 521,000 euros through agreements for the 'Vacaciones en Paz' program and other humanitarian, health, and educational projects in the refugee camps.
The Sahrawi refugee population in the camps located in the Algerian region of Tindouf largely depends on international aid. Therefore, the Provincial Council of Cádiz maintains its commitment to actions aimed at improving their living conditions and supporting humanitarian and development projects, including aid caravans and awareness campaigns.
During the meeting, Ana Moreno spoke with the children and presented them with an institutional gift as a memento of their visit to the Provincial Palace.
