The Cádiz Local Police will have two new vehicles to patrol the beaches during the upcoming summer season. The tender for these supplies, described as "totally necessary" by the Cádiz City Council, has been published on the Public Sector Contracting Platform. According to the technical specifications, the current vehicles show "accelerated wear and tear" due to exposure to saltpeter, humidity, and sand, compromising their operability.
The transformation and integral equipping of these vehicles are essential for their use as emergency police units. The goal is to maintain and improve operational capacity in coastal surveillance and incident response, adhering to required safety and functionality standards. Offers for this service, crucial during the high beach season, can be submitted until July 13.
Specific requirements for the vehicles include them being 'side by side ATV' type quads, blue in color, with a three-seater capacity and a closed cabin. They must be correctly homologated and come with a three-year warranty. In addition to the delivery of the quads, their transformation and complete equipment are included, featuring regulatory signage, emergency lights, and speakers, as well as proper registration.
The surveillance of Cádiz's coast has been a relevant topic this year. In early June, police presence on the beaches had not yet begun, despite the pre-season having started earlier. Initially, patrols were planned to commence on June 15, but presence was advanced to the preceding weekend, June 13, with an initial team of four officers and a supervisor. This deployment has been maintained on weekdays and will be reinforced during the weekends of July and August.
