Between today and tomorrow, the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters in Cádiz will host the International Conference ‘Foucault: sexuality, gender and politics’. This event, commemorating the centenary of the French philosopher's birth, has been organized by the research group Estudios Infames ‘The problem of alterity in the current world’ (HUM-536).
The research group, whose principal investigator is a professor of Philosophy at the University of Cádiz, is dedicated to exploring the central axes of culture based on what is silenced or marginalized. Its approach covers various disciplines such as gender studies, moral and political philosophy, and the history of science.
The conference will feature prominent international researchers from both Argentina and Spain. Among them are experts from the University of Buenos Aires and the Complutense University of Madrid, who are members of the Ibero-American Michel Foucault Network.
Michel Foucault (1926–1984) was an influential 20th-century philosopher, historian, and social theorist. His work revolutionized the understanding of power, knowledge, and subjectivity, analyzing how social institutions shape individuals. These university conferences, which can be followed both in person and online, are open to all interested public.
