The competition, organized by the Club Deportivo de Carreras de Obstáculos de Cádiz with the support of the Department of Sports and the sponsorship of the Diputación de Cádiz, once again demonstrated its strong appeal. All entries sold out in advance, reflecting the considerable interest this event generates among athletes from Andalusia and other regions.
“"The success in participation and the atmosphere experienced during the day have been exceptional, with a great diversity of profiles among the runners."
José Ignacio González, the Sports Councillor, who was present during the event, congratulated both the participants for their effort and the organization for the impeccable execution of the event. He highlighted the variety of profiles among the runners, from those aiming to improve their performance to those who simply enjoyed the group experience.
The course, spanning over 7 kilometers, featured more than 30 obstacles distributed between the Tiro de Pichón area and the marshes. Athletes tested their endurance, skill, and ability to overcome challenges in categories such as Elite, Popular individual, Popular pairs, and Popular teams. Challenges included alpaca jumps, tire carrying, pits, trenches, javelin throwing, climbing walls, military crawls, archery, water barrels, ropes, pegboards, and Japanese sails, among many others.
With this successful fourth edition, the Fungo Race solidifies its place as an unmissable event in the sports calendar of El Puerto de Santa María, attracting an increasing number of participants and spectators each year.
