The Territorial Delegation of Educational Development of the Junta de Andalucía will meet this Friday with representatives from the PTA of CEIP Profesor Gálvez in Villaluenga to address concerns about the reduction of class units at the school.

The CEIP Profesor Gálvez, the sole educational institution in the smallest municipality of the Sierra de Cádiz, is slated to have its classes reduced from three to just two for the upcoming academic year, according to current planning and BOJA regulations. This measure would mean that both Infant and Primary education stages would be combined into two units, with one unit grouping all three Infant years with the first cycle of Primary (first and second grade).
This restructuring would not only impact class organization but also lead to a reduction in teaching staff. The school is expected to go from five teachers to just three, raising concerns within the PTA about the retention of current staff and the potential reliance on temporary teachers.

What is truly serious for the school's representatives is that not only levels but also stages would be mixed, placing three-year-old children, newly arrived in Infant education, with seven-year-olds in Second Grade of Primary, all with a single teacher.

In response to this situation, parent and student representatives have called for a rally in front of the Education Ministry's headquarters in Cádiz city, on Antonio López Street, while continuing to collect signatures. Last Tuesday, residents, families, the PTA, and the municipal corporation of Villaluenga had already protested to advocate for educational quality and the future of their town.
