Socialist Juan Cornejo, the PSOE's candidate for the Andalusian Parliament representing the province of Cádiz, cast his vote this morning in his hometown, Medina Sidonia. Speaking to the media, Cornejo described the day as "a happy and beautiful day for all democrats," emphasizing that Andalusians and those from Cádiz "will freely choose who represents them in parliament and who governs them." He added that "Andalusians themselves will write their present and future, and no one else."
Cornejo took the opportunity to thank "all the poll workers, representatives, and the militants of the provincial PSOE of Cádiz" for their work on this May 17th, calling them "the soul of our party."
“"We expect a great mobilization of the progressive electorate that already trusted Pedro Sánchez in July 2023, and for this to be a day with great surprises where the polls, which point to enormous demobilization, are not met, and we see a participation of 70%, or even more."
Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the PSOE in Cádiz, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, recalled the intense "door-to-door" campaign conducted by the party across the province's 45 municipalities. He expressed hope for high mobilization of the progressive electorate, similar to July 2023, and anticipated "great surprises" that would contradict polls predicting demobilization, aiming for 70% participation or higher. Ruiz Boix highlighted that the socialist platform defends "public healthcare, the universal aspect of education at all levels," and improvements to the Dependency Law.
Voter turnout in Andalusia at 11:30 AM this Sunday, May 17th, stood at 15.10%, according to provisional data. This figure represents a slight decrease compared to the June 2022 elections, when turnout at the same hour was 15.44%. In the province of Cádiz, turnout remained at 13.58%, a 0.02% increase from the previous election.
