The initiative, discussed at a recent meeting between Mayor José María Román and the president of the professional college, Rafael Campos, seeks to coordinate resources to organize cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) workshops and training in maneuvers for choking incidents. Campaigns to promote healthy lifestyle habits among children and specific sessions for seniors are also planned.
The meeting, held to coincide with World Health Day, also included the participation of the first deputy mayor, Ana González. Both parties emphasized the importance of strengthening public health policies, especially in the preventive field, and agreed to move forward with drafting the agreement to finalize the activity schedule.
“"It is crucial to strengthen public policies related to health, especially in the preventive field."
As part of the institutional visit, Rafael Campos toured various municipal spaces that could host future actions. These included Plaza de Las Bodegas, considered a potential venue for outdoor informational campaigns due to its high pedestrian traffic, and the Wine and Salt Interpretation Center, proposed for talks and informative sessions.
The main objective of these activities is to provide citizens with basic knowledge that can be crucial in emergency situations, such as cardiorespiratory arrest or airway obstruction. Additionally, the aim is to strengthen health education at early ages and promote autonomy and well-being among the elderly population. This agreement will allow the Chiclana City Council to expand its work in community health and the Cadiz Nursing College to strengthen its local presence.
