The new urban buses in Cádiz will adopt the 'pendón' color, representing the city, replacing the current green and albero, according to the approved tender specifications.

One of the most noticeable changes in the new urban bus service for Cádiz will be the vehicles' appearance. With the new contract, the buses will move away from their current green and albero colors to be painted in the 'pendón' color, which represents the city.
This chromatic modification is detailed in the tender specifications approved at the latest session of the Cádiz City Council. This document also outlines the requirements, demands, and minimum conditions for the winning bidder, estimating an annual cost of 12.6 million euros for the entire service.
The tender also allows for advertising panels on the sides and rear of the vehicles. The driver's door will display the reference to the Cádiz City Council, rather than the concessionary company as is currently the case.
The approval of this measure by the municipal plenary is the final step before initiating the bidding process in the coming weeks. Subsequently, the file will be submitted to the state contracting platform, commencing the administrative procedure that will conclude with the contract signing.
Currently, the staff consists of 150 people, including 108 drivers, 18 workshop operators, 10 administrative staff, and 14 inspectors. The new tender requires the hiring of 9 additional drivers, as the current staff also covers the service in San Fernando. An additional 29 workers are planned (23 drivers, 2 workshop operators, 2 administrative staff, and 2 inspectors) to manage the increase in buses and service hours (17.85% more than in 2024), adhering to a 37-hour work week. The annual cost for the workforce will reach 9.2 million euros.
The awarded company must provide all necessary facilities for the contract's execution within the municipal area, as well as a public service office and a minimum of 60 establishments distributed evenly throughout the city for the sale and recharging of contactless cards.
