On the occasion of World Tourism Day, commemorated on September 27, the Moguer City Council has organized a program of free activities to highlight the tourist resources of the city and its beach. The offer aims to showcase the historical heritage, the figure of Juan Ramón Jiménez, and the beauty of Mazagón's Parador beach.
From Monday, September 21, to Sunday, September 27, various events will take place. On Monday the 21st, two guided tours of the historic center will be offered at 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM, starting from the Plaza del Cabildo.
On Tuesday the 22nd, at 7:00 PM, a visit will be offered to the parish church of Ntra. Sra. de la Granada, the largest five-nave temple in the province of Huelva, guided by historian Juan Manuel Moreno.
On Wednesday the 23rd, at 6:00 PM, the new wooden walkway of Playa del Parador will be inaugurated. The guided tour by Tourism technicians will cover the natural monument of the Centennial Pine of Mazagón to La Fontanilla beach, highlighting its dunes and distinctions such as the Blue Flag.
On Thursday the 24th, at 8:30 PM, a night visit will be made to the Gothic-Mudejar monastery of Santa Clara, featuring its Cloister of the Mothers, its convent church, and its unique Nazari stonework. The visit of Columbus to this monument will be recalled.
On Friday the 25th, at 6:30 PM, a theatricalized visit will commemorate the journey of writer Washington Irving to the Columbian sites in 1828. The dramatization by the company Platalea will cover Juan Ramón's birthplace and the old port of Moguer.
On Saturday, the youth activity “Scape City Moguer. The Poet's Route” has been designed, with sessions at 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Participants will have to solve challenges and riddles inspired by the work of Juan Ramón Jiménez.
As a closing event, on Sunday the 27th, World Tourism Day, the Zenobia-JRJ House-Museum, the Monastery of Santa Clara, and the Nobel laureate's birthplace will have Open Doors.
