Following the conclusion of Holy Week 2026, the brotherhood members of Cadiz are already looking ahead to the next edition, which is anticipated to be one of the earliest in the calendar. The Major Week of 2027 will take place between March 21st and 28th, coinciding with the beginning of spring on March 20th.
The liturgical calendar establishes that Dolores Friday, the day before Palm Sunday, will be March 19th, coinciding with the feast day of Saint Joseph. The key dates for Holy Week 2027 are as follows:
- March 19th: Dolores Friday
- March 20th: Passion Saturday
- March 21st: Palm Sunday
- March 22nd: Holy Monday
- March 23rd: Holy Tuesday
- March 24th: Holy Wednesday
- March 25th: Holy Thursday
- March 26th: Good Friday
- March 27th: Holy Saturday
- March 28th: Easter Sunday
A significant milestone in the brotherhood calendar will be Ash Wednesday, which in 2027 will fall on February 10th. This day marks the beginning of Lent, a forty-day period of spiritual preparation for Holy Week. In Cadiz, this date will coincide with Carnival week.
Subsequently, on February 15th, the official Way of the Cross for the brotherhoods and confraternities of Cadiz will be held. Another notable date will be March 14th, when the proclamation of Holy Week will take place at the Gran Teatro Falla, as is tradition, on the Sunday before Palm Sunday.
It is expected that in September 2026, the Local Council of Brotherhoods of Cadiz will announce both the person designated to deliver the proclamation and the artist responsible for creating the poster for Holy Week 2027. During the same period, it will be revealed which image will preside over the official Way of the Cross.
