Cádiz's municipal play centers will adapt their schedules for the summer school holidays, reopening from June 23rd with both morning and afternoon sessions. This initiative aims to facilitate work-life balance for families during the non-academic period, catering to children between 3 and 12 years old.
The two co-educational play centers, located at the Arbolí Municipal Performing Arts Center (historic center) and the Hermanas Mirabal Municipal Center (outskirts), will operate from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the morning and from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the afternoon. During the school year, the service is only available in the afternoon.
Each center will offer 30 places per shift and time slot. Activities are designed for two age groups: 3 to 6 years old and 7 to 12 years old. The program includes measures for inclusion and attention to children with disabilities, as reported by the council.
This service is part of the ‘Cádiz Cares and Balances’ program, promoted by the Municipal Women's Foundation and coordinated by the Equality Department. Councilwoman Virginia Martín emphasized that the goal is to provide an educational and recreational space during the school vacation months.
Registration for June will open on May 21st, allowing independent applications for each month. Although places are limited to 30 children per shift at each center, the City Council has not detailed whether demand has previously exceeded supply. The service is free of charge.
