The city of Cádiz is gearing up for the traditional Noche de los Juanillos 2025 (Night of the Juanillos), which this year will feature eight effigy burnings, surpassing the number from the previous edition. The festive day, taking place on June 23rd, will culminate with the burning of the municipal Juanillo in the Plaza de la Catedral.
One of the major novelties this year is the inclusion of an educational center, La Salle Mirandilla school, participating through a new category for Parents' Associations (AMPAs). The schools' creations must be made from recycled materials and will be exhibited at the school premises on June 18th, without being burned.
The schedule for the burnings will commence at 6:00 PM in the courtyard of Calle Bulería with the proposal from the Tacita de Plata Neighbors Association. It will continue in Plaza del Amante (6:30 PM), Plaza de la Merced (7:00 PM), Plaza Manolo Santander (7:45 PM), Plaza de España (8:30 PM), in front of La Negrita (9:00 PM), and Plaza de San Antonio (9:30 PM).
Musical performances by Jambá Band Brass and Unión Musical Gaditana will accompany the various burnings, both in the extramuros areas and the historic center. Additionally, circus entertainment with jugglers and game shows will animate the different spaces before each burning.
The jury will award prizes in each category. For AMPAs, the prize amounts will be 600, 400, and 250 euros. In the entities category, the prizes remain at 1,000, 500, and 300 euros, respectively.
