The Cádiz filial Brotherhood is in the final stages of preparation for a new edition of the Camino del Rocío, which this year will see more than 200 members depart from the Cádiz region. According to Jesús Montaño, the Brother Mayor, the number of devotees gathering at the brotherhood's house in the village, near the Blanca Paloma, is expected to reach around 500 to 600 people over the weekend.
Logistical preparations are underway both in Cádiz and in the village itself. Montaño detailed that tasks such as cleaning belongings, preparing the float, and arranging flowers are being finalized. Additionally, efforts have been made to condition the brotherhood's house and chapel to receive the float on Friday.
“"Personal circumstances and each pilgrim's experiences make it a unique journey, like the one I will experience this year on my first pilgrimage accompanied by my son."
The Cádiz brotherhood holds the privilege of crossing the Guadalquivir River at Sanlúcar de Barrameda and traversing the heart of the Doñana National Park. Montaño describes this route as one of the most privileged, which carries significant environmental responsibility. In collaboration with the park's management, the paths are constantly reviewed to minimize impact and ensure the conservation of the environment for future generations.
Among the most significant events of the pilgrimage, besides the Virgin's departure in the early hours of Pentecost Monday, are the presentation of the brotherhood to the Hermandad Matriz, the arrival at the village on Friday, the Pontifical Mass on Sunday, and the Rosary preceding the departure of the Blanca Paloma. Montaño also highlighted the joy of meeting fellow residents from Cádiz in the village.
Montaño, who recently served as the pregonero (herald) for the Glorias of Cádiz, expressed his satisfaction with the work accomplished and the efforts of the 'hermandades de Gloria' (brotherhoods of glory). The main objective for this year is for everything to proceed smoothly and for the spirit of Pentecost to renew the pilgrims, applying the life lessons learned on the journey, where faith in the Virgin helps overcome difficulties.
